The "Gloves for Guns" Youth Initiative is dedicated to empowering at-risk youth in our community by providing them with a positive outlet through boxing. We recognize the urgent need to address the issue of gun violence among young people, and we aim to create a safe and supportive environment where they can thrive.
Through our partnerships with local organizations that work with marginalized youth, we offer opportunities for personal growth, discipline, and skill development in the sport of boxing. Our program not only teaches valuable athletic skills but also fosters self-confidence, resilience, and teamwork.
We invite community support to help us make a difference. A contribution of $100 can cover one month of free boxing training for a deserving youth or provide essential equipment such as gloves and training gear. For $600, you can sponsor a six-month boxing membership, ensuring that these young individuals have sustained access to our program.
Join us in our mission to transform lives and create a brighter future for our youth through the power of boxing. Together, we can help steer them away from violence and towards a path of opportunity and success.

Shawnee High School serves as the heart of the West End of Louisville, often facing devaluation alongside the community due to negative portrayals of gun violence. According to USA News, The Academy at Shawnee ranks between 180th and 226th in Kentucky, with an Advanced Placement® participation rate of 18%. The school has a diverse student body, with 74% minority enrollment and 83% of students classified as economically disadvantaged. As one of 44 high schools in the Jefferson County Public Schools system, The Academy at Shawnee has a rich history, producing successful graduates including judges, attorneys, authors, professional athletes, and professors. This backdrop inspired the creation of the Allelon Initiative, which, thanks to generous donors, has positively impacted the school in various ways. We have organized dinner events for over 300 students, incorporating relevant devotionals that resonate with their experiences. Additionally, we hosted a meal for more than 250 teachers and staff to express our gratitude for their dedication. We secured sponsorships for new varsity football jerseys and pants for local teams, provided warm-up gear for newly established soccer teams, and rented Tinseltown Movie Theater for a screening of "Foreman," a film about boxer George Foreman, for over 40 young men, followed by a discussion. We also collaborated with Mount Saint Francis in Greenville, Indiana, to host a summer camp focused on holistic youth development in the West End. Through these efforts, we have built relationships with numerous youth and their families, facilitating access to housing, job placement, and financial counseling through partnerships with community organizations, while engaging with hundreds of inner-city youth by offering holistic counseling and life-on-life mentoring support.
